Brother printer sleep mode occurs if it is not used for a certain period of time. It could remain offline to your PC while in sleep mode. Simply pressing the printer's power button or sending a print job to it will bring it back online. If the problem remains and the printer continually returns to offline mode after finishing sleep mode, it may be good to check the printer settings to see if the sleep mode is changed to a smaller duration or disabled if not needed.
